CONTEXT

VIRTUAL CATWALK

Under the guidance of their new Creative Officer, Daniel Lee, BURBERRY returned to its roots in 2023 with an impactful rebranding. For this occasion, EPAM was invited to design a unique experiential journey reflecting the new brand positioning for Innovation Day, a moment created to captivate audiences, demonstrate the brand’s ability to adapt and innovate, and redefine digital luxury in the ever-evolving world of fashion.

BURBERRY

Among the 18 experiences developed, I chose to focus on the Virtual Catwalk, a powerful fusion of BURBERRY’s heritage and forward-thinking innovation. Set in the moorlands, the experience celebrates the brand’s iconic gabardine fabric and enduring love for the outdoors, embodying the spirit of British weather, ever-changing, expressive, and inspiring. By changing the weather or the time of day, users can see the garments react and adapt in real time. The experience also offers dynamic camera control, including a bird’s-eye view, as well as the ability to insert personal avatars, purchase items instantly, or curate and share favorite looks on social media. It’s an immersive celebration of craftsmanship, creativity, and technology.

PRODUCTION

EXPERIENCE DETAILS

Interface design and prototyping the functionalities ready to be experienced such as weather and time shift. Those generated boards are milestones of the look and feel for each interactions with corresponding lightscape.

Experimenting clothing simulation following seamlessly body movements while giving a bold, confident walk to the models.

Building outstanding moorland-inspired landscape views that recreate the raw, natural atmosphere of the place—between cliffs and sea, with chattering bird flocks, patches of briars among the sickly grass, and a reflective stream serving as a walkway…
